Miss Mindy here is a beautiful female Shepherd and possibly Labrador mix. This small girl is 7 years old and weighs in at just 38 pounds.  She was brought in to Bishop Animal Shelter back in April as a stray. The shelter staff is unsure if she is good with children or other animals.

Figgo here is a dapper male Rhodesian Ridgeback mix.  He weighs 53 pounds and is approximately 4 years old.  Figgo was brought into Bishop Animal Shelter back in April because his previous owners were moving.  He is good with children, was kept inside and is fuly house trained. One of Figgo’s favorite things to do is to go for walks. He would make a great walking partner or workout buddy. Figgo is neutered and up to date on his routine shots, as well.

Bucky is a male Beagle and Pointer mix.  He weighs 48 pounds and he’s approximately a year and a half old.  He was brought in to Bishop Animal Shelter in mid-April because they couldn’t keep him.  The previous owners are not sure if he is good with children but he is house trained and was kept indoors.

Bucky is a very happy dog who loves his toys.  This neutered boy would make a great jogging or walking partner if you’re looking for a workout buddy. Bucky does know some basic obedience commands such as sit and stay.

Axel the injured pit bull is ready to find his forever home

No Kill Manatee invites the community to a special event at 2 p.m. Wednesday May 1 at Manatee County Animal Services, 305 25^th St. W., Palmetto to announce that Axel is ready to find his forever home.

Axel, the pit bull who was hit in the head with an axe-like object, is now looking for his special forever home.  Since his injury in January he spent time recuperating at Beach Veterinary Clinic, he has been fostered and trained by Trisha Robinson Antonelli of Dawg Phonics in Bradenton, and he has completed heartworm treatmrnt.

Good news, Bradenton! A long resident at Bishop Animal Shelter finally found her forever home. We just wanted to say congratulations to Miss Zelda.

Now check our your adoptable dog of the week, Sheeba. Sheeba is a gorgeous female 10 year old Siberian Husky.  This spayed girl weighs 41 pounds and has been at Bishop Animal Shelter since the beginning of the year. We’re told this Sheeba does not act her age at all and that she does prefer a home without children.

Bella here is a spayed female Italian Greyhound mix.  She is a young lady at 2 years old and she weighs in at 20 pounds. Bella was brought in to Bishop SPCA Animal Shelter back in March because her previous owners could not keep her.

This little girl is house trained and was kept inside in her old home. Bella was surrendered with another dog and may do well in a home with another pet. She is still a timid and shy pup but does come around when she feels comfortable. Give her a few belly rubs and she’ll be your friend for life!

Friday is here, Bradenton! Are you ready to meet your adoptable dog of the week? Check out Molly!

Molly here is a female Catahoula Leopard dog.  She is 4 years young and weighs in at 46 pounds.  Molly was surrendered by her previous owners at the end of March because they were moving. Molly has never lived with kids so it’s suggested she goes to a home with older children due to her size.

She is house trained and was kept indoors in her previous home. Molly is spayed and up to date on all of her shots as well. Altogether, Molly is a really happy dog that would make a perfect addition in a loving household. Looking for more information? This little boy is a neutered, short-coat Chihuahua mix. He is just a year old and was brought into HSMC back in March.  Nugget is full of happy energy. He loves playing and going on walks to use his sniffer in full force. He is super friendly and very smart.

Walking a shelter dog does so much more than just provide for a bathroom break.  A walk is a chance to bond and interact and regain some small sense of normalcy for these pups.  The more interaction with people and a chance to break the monotony of shelter life, the greater chance there is for adoption.
